Very good, upscale cuisine. Good service

I went to this restaurant for dinner with my husband, the welcome was quite modest. After we got the menu we were asked directly for drinks. However, we were not offered a drinks menu. My husband asked if you have a house wine, this was immediately answered with a NO! Very impolite. You can ask if you are not offered a wine menu or drinks menu. As a starter we ordered a leaf salad and the large prawns. The sauce on the salad was nothing special and the temperature of the prawns just wasn't right. For the main course we had fish with gnocci, which my husband absolutely didn’t like and I ordered the onion roast which was unfortunately only bathed in salt. Unfortunately we were not asked if we would like to have another drink? The service boss must have woken up with the wrong foot. With this lousy and negative mood that you spread, I had passed the dessert. Oh yes, we weren't asked whether we would like something else like coffee or dessert. As if you're glad you're leaving. In terms of taste, something can always go wrong with the food, but the snotty answers and the negative mood that was spread by the staff got us. When we asked for the bill and pointed out that we would like to pay by card and would also like to have a hospitality receipt, the next snappy answer came with: "I have to know first what amount you are paying so that I can issue you this receipt" why so unfriendly? Nobody rushed the lady, we asked very kindly and nobody was pressed for time.

Food and atmosphere super great.

Nice restaurant, very tastefully decorated, excellent cuisine, everything fresh, no junk from the bag or the glass, but that goes without saying in this price segment. We would have wished for a more refined, creative plate language, that's the only thing we want to note. Good luck!

The first thing to be said. The restaurant was once the figurehead of the city of Schwäbisch Gmünd and known across all national borders. First of all. The kitchen or the food was almost perfect. Only the roast was through medium instead of as ordered. But was easily replaced. The service was honestly all sow. The first thing we got was the menu and no drinks menu. We only got this upon request. Boss constantly dropped the corners of her mouth a la Merkel and only showed a tired smile at the table. Second service staff tried hard but showed the impression of a career changer. No etiquette, wrong introduction of drinks and food, refilling the wine without asking and wrong cutlery placement depending on the course. Greetings from the kitchen were on our table for dessert even though it was obviously eaten empty. Only when asked to remove it was it taken away. Clear the neighboring tables only about 30 minutes after the guests were gone. No separate wine cooler, but a common one in the middle of the terrace for all guests. Corona? This restaurant has never met the appearance of fine dining. At a price of 90 € for two people, a main course and dessert and bottle of wine is not justified. Too bad. But with the predecessors (Bofinger and Kälberer) the guest was still valued and it was actually a very upscale and perfect gastronomy. In itself a very disappointing evening. My colleague took me for lunch, I'm a vegetarian. The first thing I received from the boss was a bit of a rude and unfriendly one, I honestly lost my appetite. There weren't many people around, but the very tense mood of the manager and service staff made me feel very uncomfortable. The lunch table was with meat, when I asked for an alternative, I was also offered it, a mushroom dish, unfortunately I can not tolerate mushrooms, I communicated that. Well, you couldn't have known that, but then I was simply left hungry at the table without food. When the boss then ran by, I asked very kindly for freshly squeezed juices and was answered with a choppy and snappy no. And still ignored. All in all quite honestly, not even 1 star value, my colleague didn't like the meat dish at all, he left an almost full plate, was not even asked if something was wrong. Well my colleague didn't leave a tip to express that it didn't fit at all. So in the end, after the visit, 2 hungry guests went out of the restaurant again, .... it was just a shame, that was very inhuman, and something far from a good restaurant. I would have been happy if I could have just had potatoes with butter. Only there seem to be other problems, if you let your guests go hungry as a restaurant owner, you have really lost your vocation. Great food of the highest class, a suitable ambience and good service! The prices are a bit higher than elsewhere, but in any case reasonable. We always like to come back.

Very very good food, in a nice atmosphere

Very tasty Swabian cuisine in a pleasant atmosphere with friendly service. The selection of wines is also recommended. The visit is worthwhile. Upper price range. There is a lack of understanding for a somewhat irritating, rather less competent and inappropriate treatment due to short-term illness-related cancellations when booking for a group. Diplomatic accommodation would have been desirable here; the restaurant was not even half full that evening.

Nice ambience! The food is fresh and tasty. The menu selection is reasonable but not over the top. So far, I couldn't fault the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness!

The food is delicious, but on the salty side. Less would be more. Very nice cook, quiet atmosphere. Unfortunately it is a bit cold in the vault.

Very good restaurant. The best in Schwäbisch Gmünd. Food - always great. ... love to eat the spring, summer, autumn and now winter menu. In between, the delicious roast must always come back ... Service professional. Ambience: very nice listed building with a nice outside area; directly at Gmünder Münsterplatz. Own parking spaces. Highly recommended. Again and again! Often & gladly.

Upscale. A bit over sophisticated

The first impression is said to be the most important one - unfortunately this was very negative from the service staff, as we were asked whether we had made a reservation, but in a very snappy undertone and the restaurant was really almost empty and no reservation was necessary. Unfortunately the service was very bad, very long waiting times. Almost 15 minutes alone until we were able to order the drinks, only someone from the service staff came when we made our presence known and at such a restaurant "with fine cuisine" I expect something different. The food was really very good - a dream and the 2 stars. But unfortunately a restaurant stands and falls with the service staff. The next time you should plan a lot more time - for short (i.e. eating 1.5 hours) this restaurant is unfortunately not recommended.
